5 Spoonie Bloggers You Should Follow

I am just getting started in my journey as a chronic illness and disability blogger. As such, I have been taking a lot of lessons from the people who have long been established in the community, from how to structure my blog to how to connect with other bloggers.

I love the variety of voices that are present in the disabled and chronically ill community. I thought it might be nice to share some of my favorite bloggers with you guys today, then maybe come back in six months or a year and update my list.

Since the blogging course I am currently taking suggested reflecting on five industry leaders, I decided to choose five of my favorite spoonie bloggers for you guys to check out. None of these bloggers know me, so my opinions are genuinely from a place of personal experience as a fan of their sites and content.

Here’s my list, in no particular order:

Melissa VS Fibromyalgia

This blog is a boon for anyone with fibromyalgia. Focusing on a holistic approach to managing symptoms, the blog is full of resources for those coping with fibromyalgia and those who love and support them. The author offers free yoga instruction for subscribers and is also active on Youtube, Facebook, and Pinterest.

Despite Pain

A simple yet functional blog that features plenty of resources for those living with chronic pain, this one is one of my favorites because it features information about trigeminal neuralgia. Also offering information about Coeliac Disease and pain management, the blog is a no-nonsense collection of information based on personal experiences and thorough research. The author can also be found on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest.

As someone with neurological issues myself, this blog really appeals to me. Offering an inspiring and candid look at what life is like for those afflicted with neurological disorders and the issues that accompany them, this blog is full of good reads. Looking for the Light

Talk about a busy blogger! This blog updates daily, sometimes several times a day. Those updates contain everything from typical tips and tricks posts to personal reflections and useful resources for those with chronic illness and disability. Unlike many of the other bloggers on this list, the author is not especially social – their social network presence seems to be minimal – but their content is worth the follow!

A Chronic Voice

This blog and its author are fantastic. An inspiring and uplifting blog written by a woman who suffers from a variety of chronic health conditions, it is refreshingly real and remarkably relatable. The page features plenty of resources for the chronically ill and those who support them, alongside clean web design that makes browsing the many features easy and intuitive. Overall, one of the best disability blogs I have browsed!
